We all love torrent. It’s one of the quickest way to transfer and share files from one system onto another. In the recent years we have seen a major boom in P2P (peer-to-peer) file sharing technology.

Although downloading torrents from thousands of sites is not a difficult task, still people are unaware on how to upload a torrent file on a site. Likewise due to a huge volume of torrents found over the Internet, searching the right torrent that suites what your looking for is not an easy task as such.

Many a times people ask – What’s the best torrent search engine on the web? I find very difficult to answer this question, since people have different likings and dis-likings about search engines. Keeping this in mind, I have tried to compiled a list of 30 Torrent search engines that would suit all sorts of people. Let me know, if you like it!

Download Torrents Without Using A BitTorrent Client

Not sure why you would need this, but BitLet.org allows you to download bit torrented files (Movies, Music, etc…) to your computer, without the need for a client (useful in some network situations at work etc..).

1. First choose your desired torrent file from a torrent site which you want to download
2. Copy its torrent metafile url.
3. Go to www.bitlet.org in your favorite browser and paste the torrent metafile link in the box.
4. Click the download torrent button.

BitLet Features:

Resume feature:
You can resume your torrents again by just clicking save in the same location where you saved the download the first time (the applet will propose it by default), and your download will be resumed.

Upload and seed torrents:
You can upload and seed torrents by keeping the download window opened.

View Upload/download stats:
You can view the upload and download stats of a particular torrent by clicking the arrow buttons.

Generate BitLet links:
You can create a bitlet link of a particular torrent file by going here which will allow the user to directly download the torrent with bitlet. When the user clicks the link, a bitlet download box will open and prompt the user to select the location to save the file.

Torrent Site ‘Franchise’ Eliminated by BREIN

The Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN has managed to take another 19 torrent sites down, all of them operated by the same person. Last December, the 45 year old man behind the so-called torrent site franchise was already forced to close 75 of his other sites.

breinBREIN is famous for taking small torrent communities offline. However, they tend to ignore some of the largest BitTorrent sites on the Internet, some of which are also hosted in The Netherlands. Their latest victory is a torrent site franchise, as they like to call it, involving 94 small BitTorrent trackers.

Two months ago, 75 sites involved in this franchise were already pulled offline, and this week the remaining 19 followed. All the sites were allegedly operated by the same person, a 45 year old Dutch man. BREIN, who previously said that the man was involved in an organized piracy ring, will report the man to the FIOD-ECD – the Fiscal Investigation Unit of the Dutch Police.

FIOD-ECD is dedicated to chasing down people alleged to be involved in fiscal, financial and economic fraud – usually major criminals or cases where a significant amount of money is involved. It therefore seems unlikely that they will pursue the man, especially since they were unable to find any evidence in previous filesharing case involving ShareConnector.

BREIN’s strength seems to be their ability to exaggerate and spin the truth in order to influence public opinion, which required us to send them an open letter some time ago. In recent years BREIN has succeeded in taking hundreds of torrent sites offline, mostly by making direct contact with the site host, who then feel they must cooperate. Unfortunately for BREIN, most sites simply responded by relocating to another hosting facility.

In 2007, MyBittorrent, SumoTorrent, BTmon.com, BTjunkie.org, SeedPeer, What.cd, Waffles.fm and many other BitTorrent sites were forced to leave Leaseweb thanks to an intervention from BREIN. Today, all these sites are still online though, which proves that BREIN’s actions are far from effective.

During the last three years, not many new BitTorrent clients have surfaced. Together, the likes of uTorrent, Azureus and BitComet have a 90% market share, with uTorrent being the most popular client. For a new client it is nearly impossible to catch up with these giants, but Halite might just stand a chance.

YouTorrent Relaunches with 67,170 Legal Torrents

YouTorrent is without a doubt the most talked about newcomer in the BitTorrent scene this year. The site initially indexed all the popular torrent sites, but switched to purely ‘verified’ torrents after receiving legal threats. Today, YouTorrent officially relaunches with 67,170 “legal” torrents, good for 6 TBs of data.
